Queer Craft Night
R U a maker, creator, lover of low-key gathering vibes with a focus centered around art but also gives space to have a gab?
Indigenous creator and beader, Theresa Westhaver (she/they) will lead an intro to beading session, including rainbow pin making at the start of this evening 5pm - 6:30pm.
Come early if you'd like to get a kit and bead along with this skilled crafter who grew up in Jasper and has spent the last decade reclaiming their Secwepemc (pronounced Se-KWEP-umk-wh) heritage through art, language and community. Theresa is a co-founder and director of the land-based learning program The Howl Experience, based out of Canmore.
Alternatively, arrive whenever you have some hours free between 5pm and 9pm to dive into creating giant flowers and mushrooms with Jasper Pride decor committee lead and creator extraordinaire Elena Kellis (they/them) who is finishing pieces for the Wonderland Pride Party Gala on April 18.
Not only is this prime local community connection time for introverted or artsy queers...this is a great way to earn your ticket to Wonderland if this month's budget is tight and you have crafty hands.
For those who can lend a hand for a few hours of decoration making and whimsical design, Elena will be collecting names for the VIP guest list.
